Knowing the rules is something that some beginners can sometimes take for granted. It's important to know exactly what's going on. This is the most popular form of poker. If you've seen poker on television it was probably Texas Hold 'Em. No Limit Texas Hold 'Em has been described as the cadillac of poker, which is why it is the form that is used to decide the World Series Main Event. |

This is pretty much the same as Texas Hold 'Em, but using four down cards rather than two. You must use two, and only two of your four hole cards to make your best hand. |

This split pot game operates exactly as normal Omaha except for who wins the pot. If there is a qualifying low hand, the pot is split 50-50 between the highest and the lowest ranked hands. To qualify for a low hand you must have 5 differently numbered cards of 8 or below. |

Stud is a game without community cards. In the 5 card version only 1 of each players' 5 cards is hidden from the other players, meaning it's often a case of 'he's either got the nuts, or he's got nothing!' |
